Why choose Repurposed lighting?

At DRK, our mission is to light the future with the past. By utilising materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, we reduce waste and lower the environmental impact. These lights not only contribute to a cleaner planet but also bring unique, one-of-a-kind aesthetics to any space. Repurposed lighting combines sustainability with high-quality performance, ensuring longevity and energy efficiency, while providing an affordable alternative to traditional lighting without compromising on style or functionality

We have developed a reputation for our reliability, creativity, our quick turnaround times and our cost savings. You can view working samples of our Repurposed lighting products in our Shoreditch Showroom or sent directly to you.

Among the advantages are:
  • Significant energy savings.
  • An extended product lifespan, which helps in reducing waste.
  • A minimized ecological footprint for both us and the entire lighting industry.

What can become a Repurposed light fitting?

Metal: air conditioning ducts, handrails, structural beams

Copper: pipes, scrap metal

Wood: reclaimed beams, floorboards, pallets

Concrete: leftover or broken slabs for industrial-style fixtures

Tiles: ceramic or mosaic tiles

Vintage Items: old furniture, discarded knick-knacks

How can you assure quality?

All of our products are individually tested for quality assurance, we only use top quality lighting components that come with full conformities and accreditations.

  • Upcycling: This is all about giving old products a new life, transforming them into something of even higher value.
  • Remanufacturing: This approach involves giving products a second life that matches or even surpasses the original in quality. It combines reused, repaired, and new parts, with a warranty that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with brand-new items.
  • Conversions: Embracing the new doesn't always mean replacing the old. Conversions involve updating the light source in existing products, such as transitioning to LEDs.

How has DRK perfected their Repurposing?

Our team has over 150 years of combined experience in the lighting industry, we always rise to the challenge.

We are revolutionising lighting sustainability by using 3D printing to repurpose discarded waste materials, like used coffee bean husks, transforming them into innovative products, such as our eco-friendly 3D-printed downlight 'The Coffee Beam' (top image).

  • Reusability: We aim to find innovative ways to reuse rather than discard, be it by converting incandescent fittings to LED or other methods.
  • Workflow Steps: Each service we offer passes through stages including collection, cleaning, inspection, disassembly, component reprocessing, reassembly, and rigorous testing.
  • Tailored Solutions: We believe in customization. From specially crafted glass to a fresh coat of paint, or even diverse lighting upgrades, we provide what best suits your needs.

As one of the UK's major Original Equipment Remanufactures we are championing upcycling, remanufacturing, and conversions, and leading the charge towards a sustainable future, benefiting not only our clients and end-users but also our precious planet.
