Friday, May 3rd marked a special day for DRK Lighting as Wimbledon FC allowed us amateurs on the hallowed turf of Plough Lane for the first time to participate in their annual sponsor’s football match. It was a momentous occasion filled with camaraderie, competition, and a fair share of unforgettable moments.

DRK Team and Football Manager for the day: Craig Summers, Hamish Elliott and our MD Darren Roper-Knight
Representing DRK Lighting on the pitch were Callum ‘Zizi’ Heffernan, Craig ‘Pirlo’ Summers, and Hamish ‘the Fridge’ Elliott. They all excelled on the pitch, with Craig pulling the strings in midfield and Hamish bulldozering his way up front, it wasn’t long before we were 4 nil down.
The highlight of the evening’s entertainment was the decision to make Darren Roper-Knight the ‘Gaffer’ and with his extensive Subbuteo knowledge and tactical nous he was able to turn the 4 nil drubbing into a 7-1 humiliation. The score was later turned into a 3-2 win by VAR.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to the incredible AFC Wimbledon staff who made this experience truly exceptional. Pietro Palladino, Craig Cope, Johnnie Jackson, and Andrew Stead go above and beyond to ensure that everyone who steps foot in the stadium feels welcomed and valued. Their dedication and hospitality added an extra layer of warmth to an already unforgettable evening.
It’s more than just a game; it’s a celebration of community, sportsmanship, and the joy of coming together in the spirit of friendly competition.
