DRK Lighting Update: Quarter 1, 2026

We’d like to show you a little bit of what we got up to in Quarter 1 this year!

Introducing THE WHITE CUBE

Our state-of-the-art Remanufacturing Lab

Our brand new The White Cube remanufacturing lab at our Chessington facility represents our investment in sustainable lighting innovation. Purpose-built as a clean, controlled environment, this lab enables our team to restore, upgrade, and extend the life of light fittings with exceptional precision. The bright, modular space is designed for efficient workflow, incorporating advanced equipment, specialist tooling, and dedicated zones for disassembly, component assessment, and final quality assurance.

By centralising remanufacturing in this dedicated space, we can deliver greater consistency, shorter turnaround times, and enhanced traceability across every project. The facility also strengthens our commitment to the circular economy principles, reinforcing our position as a leader in remanufacturing.

McLaren & DRK Strategic Partnership

We are pleased to announce our collaborative relationship with McLaren Construction as their chosen Strategic Partner.

Building THE BLACK BOX

The Black Box is our cutting-edge light-testing facility designed for complete in-house photometric and compliance analysis. Equipped with a Goniophotometer and EMC testing equipment, we can generate lighting calcs and LDT/IES files and perform full EMC verification. This purpose-built environment ensures precise, repeatable results, guaranteeing exceptional quality and performance across our lighting range.

Injection Moulding

Our Injection Moulding Machine enables us to produce end caps and live feeds for LED Neon that are IP67 rated.

This is totally unique to us in the UK!

Timber Square

Timber Square aims to be a net-zero-carbon building in both operation and construction, which is where our remanufacturing comes in. This mixed-use, 370,000 sq ft redevelopment has retained and refurbished a 1950s printworks, keeping around 80% of the existing building.

Hoare Lea were the designers on this project, and in keeping with the low-carbon ethos, they wanted to incorporate as much of the preserved lighting as possible. This year, we completed the remanufacturing of two types of light fittings, pendants and high-bay style downlights. We have estimated that the total savings of these remanufactures were 1663kg of CO2 and 2 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

DRK Conker Tournament

A bit of Friday silliness for the team to end 2025, with prizes on offer. Plus, the ultimate reward of destroying everyone else’s conkers
and being feared from here on. As you can see in the last photo, Josh was our champion! Congratulations to Josh, and the rest of us now know never to cross him.
