At DRK Lighting, we believe that great design never goes out of style, especially when it comes to lighting. As an Original Equipment Remanufacturer (OER), we are working to revolutionise the way businesses think about their lighting by championing a fresh approach to sustainability and cost-effectiveness through lighting remanufacture.
Vintage Lighting Meets Modern Design
Classic lighting fixtures have a timeless appeal that can make a modern interior look fresh and inviting. Using an elegant 1950s pendant lamp, for example, in a minimalist kitchen can create a juxtaposition that makes a beautiful focal point. A restored industrial warehouse light can add warmth and style to a stylish and contemporary space. Using classic or vintage lighting fixtures can bring a bit of history, artisanship or individuality to areas that may feel plain or impersonal.
What is Lighting Remanufacture?
Remanufacturing is a process that goes beyond just recycling because it gives light fittings a second lease of life. Our remanufacturing approach has 8 important steps that start with us assessing your light fittings, disassembling and cleaning, processing and repairing and then finally reassembling with new components to make lights that are now environmentally friendly and efficient. In the remanufacturing process, we also update the light source to include LEDs, thus making them as energy-efficient as possible. We follow a strict waste hierarchy procedure that ensures that every possible component is reused, repaired or carefully recycled according to the WEEE Directive guidelines.
The DRK Lighting Remanufacturing Process
Each lighting fixture we remanufacturer undergoes an assessment process designed to support the circular economy and extend the life cycle of your light fitting. We follow our OER Processing Flow chart, and our main goal is to minimise waste and promote sustainability. Our first aim is to reuse items wherever possible. When direct reuse isn’t an option, we then focus on repairing fixtures to restore them to their former glory. If repair isn’t viable, we will recover components to donate to other fittings. Only as a last resort do we consider disposal, and even then, we make sure that we recycle responsibly in line with environmental guidelines.
Saving Money and the Planet
Refurbished lighting offers more than just style and design appeal; it is also an excellent financial and environmental choice. If you choose to remanufacture your lighting, you can save money compared to buying brand-new fixtures. It can also give your business substantial energy savings because they use the most up-to-date and efficient technologies. Over the product’s life cycle, there will be energy and cost savings while also helping you reduce your ecological footprint. This approach works well with the UN 2050 sustainability guidelines and supports the circular economy.
More Than Just Lighting
By choosing repurposed lighting rather than buying brand new, you are saving money, saving energy and supporting a more sustainable approach to lighting design. At DRK, we also provide a comprehensive warranty on all our remanufactured lights to give you peace of mind and we make sure that every light we remanufacture meets or improves upon the original specification of the light fitting.
Great design doesn’t have to cost the earth and at DRK Lighting we are pleased to be able to offer sustainable light solutions that are as kind to your budget as they are to the planet. Repurposed lighting isn’t just a trend – it’s a revolution in how we think about lighting, design, and environmental responsibility.
